Biltmore Golf celebrates Jesse Gutierrez on ‘Thank a Golf Course Superintendent Day’

September 13 is officially deemed the International “Thank a Golf Course Superintendent Day,” and we have one of the best in Jesse Gutierrez. Since most people have trouble keeping up with their front lawns, it’s remarkable to consider the effort required to maintain an entire golf course: or two! That’s exactly what Gutierrez and team have been doing at Biltmore Golf Club for the past 37 years!

In that time, Jesse has handled every post and responsibility on the crew from raking bunkers to mowing greens to caring for all the flowers surrounding the clubhouse.

“He knows every aspect, every nook and cranny. You name it; he knows it,” said Biltmore Golf head golf professional Justin Creighton. “He knows the dirt; he knows where the drains go; he knows where the mountains runoff to; he knows everything that happens on this course on a daily basis. Wind, rain, all natural effects: Jesse knows what happens here.”

Gutierrez also knows he can’t do it alone. He’s the first to call out assistants Greg, who is in charge of the Adobe Course and Walter who handles the Links Course for everything they do.

Thanks to all three of you as well as the rest of the agronomy team for giving us golfers exceptional playing conditions.
